L'altra sera parlavo con un "collega" di questo disco. Secondo lui questo è il peggior disco che la Dischord ha fatto uscire da un po' di anni a questa parte. Sarà che sono prevenuto, sarà che seondo me su Dischord non escono dischi "migliori" o "peggiori", ma questo disco, dopo averlo assimilato per bene, mi piace. Non è pop. Non lo metterei su mentre sono sotto la doccia. Neanche per svegliarmi la mattina, come del resto non metterei su i Lungfish, band in cui i due Pupils (Daniel e Asa) militano da qualche lustro. E, a dirla tutta, i Pupils sono nient'altro che i Lungfish senza sezione ritmica, quindi infinitamente più noiosi, ad un ascolto distratto, ma anche molto molto più evocativi. E la caratteristica principale dei dischi di Daniel Higgs sono i suoi testi: vere e proprie poesie, messe in musica in modo cantilenante, che spesso può risultare fastidioso, ma anche catartico.
